Description: In an effort to jump-start the building of a community-based electronic medical record, several forward thinking CIOs and their institutions came together to develop a plan for such a digital record. Their partners’ electronic medical record vendors joined forces with them and matched their enthusiasm for the project. In this session, attendees will hear from various stakeholders in the participating organizations who will: * Explore the founding principles and reasons for beginning the project * Review some of the obstacles both technical and “political” that were overcome to allow sharing of electronic patient data * Discuss the expected outcomes from building this infrastructure and capability
